Celebrating Remarkable Qualities of Women in Leadership
DVMoms was created in 2016 when two exhausted veterinarian moms came together in pursuit of survival. Because misery loves company, we decided to make a Facebook group to unite some of our vet school classmates who were in the same stage of life. It turned out the support was needed far more than we realized. What began as a few friends grew into a group of over 14,000 veterinarian moms looking for much-needed support. Veterinary medicine, once almost entirely male, is now primarily women. The challenges inherent in work-life balance experienced by most veterinary professionals can feel crushing to women who are also the family’s primary caregivers.

Helping Veterinary Professionals & Primary Caregivers
For those women, the DVMoms Facebook group became a lifeline. As the Facebook group evolved, “The Moms” revealed an unshakeable strength unique to women when they are among peers in a truly safe, supportive space. Veterinarian moms have proven time and time again that they are leaders who support their colleagues and revel in others’ happiness. They support each other physically, emotionally, and financially when the work becomes overwhelming. They are humble, and they don’t flinch at emotion. They are a protective, nurturing force that reaches beyond social media and into the real world. We aim to share those traits with the veterinary profession at large.
Our Goal
Here at DVMoms, our goal is to provide resources that promote the health and sustainability of our profession by adapting to the challenges of the 21st Century, especially as they pertain to veterinary families. We will use our collective voice to unify our community, building a safer, healthier, and more enjoyable quality of life for veterinary professionals and their families.
